The archaeological area of Al Baleed is located 12 km south-east from the city of Salalah in the Governorate of Dhofar (Sultanate of Oman). The UNESCO World Heritage Site is the most historical of the Arabian Peninsula and houses Roman and Islamic period ruins of the ancient fortified port city. Among the most important monuments studied and best preserved in the area, is the Fortress (Husn), severely damaged during the cyclone Mekunu in May 2018. The interventions carried out on the Husn have provided for the safety of the areas at greatest risk of collapse for to allow archaeologists to study the underground archaeological excavation. In addition, local workers were trained and, after a careful study, important portions of masonry were reintegrated using a building local technique. Finally, a project was proposed for the enhancement of the site through an educational exhibition path and a time schedule was drawn up for future works
