A61s for the Roman villa of Faragola

In September 2017 an arson devastated the archaeological site of Late roman villa of Faragola, in Ascoli Satriano (FG). The disaster fire caused serious damage to the entire complex of ancient structures.
Thermal baths, luxurious banquet hall, mosaic floors and decorations in opus sectile: the villa of Faragola represents one of the most notable examples of a late antique villa in southern Italy, to be safeguarded and protected with care.
Now the a61s studio is engaged in the restoration, final design and executive planning of the archaeological structure. It is an important job for the recovery and enhancement of a site of exceptional interest, which requires careful methodological reflections on several fronts:architectural impact on the landscape, to the adaptation to new technological standards for archaeological sites.
September begins for us with this new challenge, in a new place, with new stories enclosed between mosaic tiles and walls blackened by fire, to restore Faragola to the community.
