The restoration project on the archaeological site of the fortress of Al Baleed, in Oman, won second place, for the Calabrian architect in the world section, of the "Antonio Quistelli and Flora Borrelli" National Biennale of Architecture award.

The project was carried out in 2019 and had as its purpose the safety of the ancient structures, damaged during the Mekunu cyclone of May 2018.

The work experience was multidisciplinary and transcultural: based on the principles of conservative restoration, it was possible to intervene on the complex structures of the site, respecting their original characteristics, involving local workers and also designing an educational exhibition itinerary for enhancement.

Details of the project here, and in the article "Husn Al Baleed: messa in sicurezza e restauro conservativo di una fortezza medievale sulle coste dell’Oman".
